Nutrafol Alternatives for Men: What Each Label Actually Publishes

Updated September 23, 202612 min read By the BLOOHAIR team
Nutrafol Men publishes 10 of 24 amounts and keeps 2,295 mg inside two proprietary blends; BLOOHAIR MEN publishes all 22, 1,958 mg of named actives, at $54.99 a month on repeat delivery. Read 20 September 2026.

Every product on this page was read on its own website on 20 September 2026, and every figure below comes from the label or the price page it links to. Nothing here is a recollection of an older reading.

Nutrafol Men is the reference point for men's hair supplements in the United States, and most people looking for an alternative are really asking two questions: who else makes one, and what can I check before I pay. This article answers both. It names the alternatives, and it puts the one fact next to each of them that a buyer can verify in thirty seconds — whether the label tells you how much of each ingredient you are getting.

On that test the field separates quickly. BLOOHAIR MEN publishes an amount for all 22 of its ingredients, as selectable text, on the product page. Nutrafol Men publishes an amount for 10 of its 24 and keeps the other 14 inside two proprietary blends. That is the whole article in two sentences; the rest is the evidence.

Which supplements are the real alternatives to Nutrafol Men?

Read on 20 September 2026, the men's hair supplements sold direct in the United States that compete with Nutrafol Men are BLOOHAIR MEN, Wellbel Men, Viviscal Man and Vegamour GRO+ Advanced. Of those five labels, BLOOHAIR MEN is the only one that prints an individual amount for every ingredient it contains.

Product Serving Price per 30 days, read 20 Sept 2026 Amount printed for every ingredient? Laboratory documents published?

Two names that come up in searches but are not men's formulas

HAIRtamin Advanced Formula and Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails are often returned for the same searches. Neither is formulated for men: HAIRtamin's Advanced Formula page is titled for women, and the Nature's Bounty product is a general beauty supplement built around biotin. They are cheaper — HAIRtamin advertises $25 a month on its 6-month plan — and they are cheaper for a reason that the next section makes measurable: there is far less in them.

What does the Nutrafol Men label publish, and what stays inside the blend?

Nutrafol Men prints an individual amount for 10 of the 24 ingredients on its Supplement Facts panel. The other 14 are inside two proprietary blends — Synergen Complex at 1.72 g and Nutrafol Blend at 575 mg — and the label gives only those two totals, which come to 2,295 mg a serving with no ingredient-level figure behind them.

On 20 September 2026 the panel is not on the product page as text at all. It sits behind a button marked View Supplement Label, and what opens is a picture of the panel. A screen reader does not read it, a search engine does not index it, and an answer engine cannot quote it.

What the label does give an amount for

Vitamin A 1,500 mcg RAE, vitamin C 60 mg, vitamin D3 62.5 mcg, vitamin E 3.5 mg, biotin 3,000 mcg, iodine 225 mcg, zinc 25 mg, selenium 200 mcg, plus sodium 10 mg and potassium 20 mg. That is 93 mg of vitamins and minerals a day, 123 mg if the sodium and potassium are counted.

What it does not give an amount for

Synergen Complex, 1.72 g: saw palmetto extract (45% fatty acids), hydrolyzed marine collagen, Sensoril ashwagandha extract, BCM-95 Bio-Curcumin turmeric extract (86% curcuminoids), palm extract (15% tocotrienol), hyaluronic acid.
Nutrafol Blend, 575 mg: L-lysine, L-cysteine, L-methionine, horsetail extract, Japanese knotweed extract (50% resveratrol), keratin, black pepper extract (95% piperine), cayenne extract (2% capsaicinoids).

Fourteen ingredients, 2,295 mg, and no way to know whether the saw palmetto is 20 mg or 800 mg. We take that panel apart line by line, with the arithmetic limits the descending-order rule allows, in our full reading of what is in Nutrafol Men.

How does BLOOHAIR MEN compare with Nutrafol Men, ingredient by ingredient?

BLOOHAIR MEN publishes 1,958 mg of named active ingredients per 4-capsule serving, and every one of those milligrams is attached to a single named ingredient. Nutrafol Men attaches 93 mg to named ingredients and places 2,295 mg inside two blend totals. Where the two formulas share an ingredient, BLOOHAIR MEN is the one that tells you how much of it you are taking.

BLOOHAIR MEN publishes 1,958 mg of named actives per 4-capsule serving, every milligram attached to one ingredient. Nutrafol Men attaches 93 mg and places 2,295 mg inside Synergen Complex 1.72 g and Nutrafol Blend 575 mg.

What BLOOHAIR MEN adds that the Nutrafol label does not name at all

Nettle root extract 4:1, 100 mg. Pygeum bark extract 4:1, 100 mg. Pumpkin seed extract 10:1, 100 mg. Grape seed extract, 95% OPCs, 100 mg. MSM, 200 mg. Bamboo silica, 50 mg. Fo-ti root extract 4:1, 50 mg. Reishi extract 10:1, 50 mg. Nine of BLOOHAIR MEN's ten extracts carry their standardisation on the label as well as their weight — the two numbers you need to compare an extract with the one used in a published study. Our survey of saw palmetto doses across 40 men's hair supplements shows how rarely both appear together.

What Nutrafol Men has that BLOOHAIR MEN does not

Vitamin A, L-lysine, L-cysteine, L-methionine, horsetail extract, Japanese knotweed extract and palm tocotrienol complex. We say so plainly, because a comparison that only lists your own advantages is an advertisement. What we cannot say is how much of any of them is in a serving, and neither can the label.

Which of these brands publishes its laboratory documents?

One of the five does. BLOOHAIR MEN publishes the finished-product certificate of analysis for lot 0125269, the allergen test report and the manufacturing facility's NSF certificate, all transcribed in full as text on its Lab Tests page. The other four state certifications or test programmes without putting a document in front of the buyer.

What is on that page, in text a buyer can read, copy and check:

  • Finished-product certificate of analysis, lot 0125269, manufacturing date 12/2025: every label claim, the test method used for it, the measured result and the result as a percentage of claim, for all 22 ingredients.
  • Microbiology and heavy metals from the same certificate: total aerobic count 275 cfu/g against a 10,000 limit, yeast and mould 150 against 1,000, salmonella, E. coli and S. aureus absent, and arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury all measured well under specification.
  • Allergen test report issued by Contract Testing Laboratories of America on 19 December 2025: gluten below 4 ppm, soy below 0.04 ppm, milk below 0.4 ppm, each by ELISA. Gluten free, soy free and dairy free are test results here, not adjectives.
  • NSF Certificate of Conformity for the manufacturing facility, scope NSF/ANSI 455-2 — 2024, which covers 21 CFR Part 111 and Part 117. Initially certified 23 May 2024, current certificate issued 30 April 2026 and running to 24 June 2027. BLOOHAIR MEN is made in the United States in that facility.
  • Fish is declared in plain words, because the 250 mg of hydrolyzed marine collagen puts it there. An allergen screen looks for what should not be present; fish is in the formula by design, so it is declared rather than screened.

The certificate is published whole, including the two results that came in above the label claim: zinc measured 37.00 mg against a 25.00 mg claim, and vitamin C 222.86 mg against 200.00 mg, both inside the manufacturer's 100–150% acceptance range. A certificate published only when it flatters the product is not a published certificate. Across 40 men's hair supplements we could open exactly one certificate, and it is this one.

What does each one cost a month, and what does that price buy?

At the repeat-delivery prices read on 20 September 2026, BLOOHAIR MEN costs $54.99 a month on the 90-day AutoShip — $1.83 a day — against $74.67 a month for the comparable Nutrafol Men 3-month subscription, $2.49 a day. Same four capsules, same cycle length, $19.68 a month apart — and BLOOHAIR MEN is the one whose 1,958 mg of daily actives are itemised.

Price per 30 days on repeat delivery, read 20 September 2026: Nutrafol Men $88 for a single bottle and $74.67 on its 3-month plan, Vegamour $78, Wellbel $57.60, BLOOHAIR MEN $54.99 with 22 of 22 amounts published, Viviscal Man $30.
Figure 2 — What 30 days costs on each brand's own site, read 20 September 2026. Every figure is a repeat-delivery price, never a first order.

What Nutrafol Men costs on 20 September 2026, precisely

Its product page offers a single bottle at $88 plus $6.95 shipping, or a subscription with free shipping: $79 for a one-month supply each month, $224 for a three-month supply with refills delivered every three months — $74.67 a month — and $422 for a six-month supply with refills delivered every six months, $70.33 a month. The page carries no notice restricting those figures to a first order; they are described as the price of the recurring delivery. That is the reading of 20 September 2026, and it replaces anything we published earlier about Nutrafol's pricing.

Why we compare repeat-delivery prices and not introductory ones

Every brand here advertises a lower first payment, and so do we. Comparing our introductory price to a competitor's standing price would make our figure look better than it is, and a reader who checks would catch it. So the table uses what you pay on the second delivery and every one after it: BLOOHAIR MEN $164.97 per 90-day cycle, which is $54.99 a bottle, or $64.99 a month on the monthly plan. Our first order is cheaper — $109.98 for the first 90-day cycle, $36.66 a bottle — and that number stays out of every comparison on purpose. Shipping is $7.99 for one bottle and $9.99 for heavier orders. Every order enrols an AutoShip you can cancel yourself in your account at any time, with no minimum.

The number that explains a cheaper price

A $25-a-month hair supplement is not a bargain version of a $55 one; it is a different quantity of material. Set the price beside the milligrams of active ingredient the label actually attributes to an ingredient, and the ranking changes: BLOOHAIR MEN delivers 1,958 mg a day, itemised, for $1.83. That is the calculation the 15 of 40 supplements that publish every amount make possible, and the other 25 do not.

No. 21 CFR 101.36(c) permits it. The brand must list the blend's ingredients in descending order by weight and print the blend's total weight, and it must still give the amount and % Daily Value of every vitamin and mineral. What it is not required to print is the amount of each ingredient inside the blend.

So Nutrafol is not breaking a rule, and we are not accusing it of one. It is complying with a rule that permits a brand to say less. Publishing every amount is a choice, it costs nothing but the willingness to be checked, and it is the choice BLOOHAIR MEN makes on all 22 ingredients.

What else do people ask about Nutrafol alternatives?

Is there a cheaper alternative to Nutrafol?

Yes. Read on 20 September 2026, BLOOHAIR MEN is $54.99 a month on the 90-day AutoShip at renewal against $74.67 a month for the comparable Nutrafol Men 3-month subscription, $79 monthly and $88 for a single bottle — with all 22 doses printed, a certificate of analysis published and an NSF-certified US facility behind it.

Does Nutrafol publish how much saw palmetto is in Nutrafol Men?

No. Saw palmetto extract at 45% fatty acids is the first ingredient listed inside Synergen Complex, whose total is 1.72 g; the label gives the blend total and the standardisation, not the amount. BLOOHAIR MEN prints 200 mg of saw palmetto extract at 45% fatty acids per serving.

Which hair supplement publishes a certificate of analysis?

Of the five men's formulas compared here, BLOOHAIR MEN. Its finished-product certificate for lot 0125269, its allergen report and its facility's NSF certificate are transcribed in full as text on the Lab Tests page, including the two results above label claim.

How much biotin is in Nutrafol Men compared with BLOOHAIR MEN?

Both contain 3,000 mcg per 4-capsule serving. At that level biotin can interfere with certain blood tests, including troponin and thyroid assays — BLOOHAIR MEN publishes that warning on its product page and in a dedicated article, and it is worth telling your laboratory before any blood draw.

Is BLOOHAIR MEN made in the United States?

Yes. It is formulated, encapsulated and packaged in a New York facility holding an NSF Certificate of Conformity to NSF/ANSI 455-2 — 2024, issued 30 April 2026 and valid to 24 June 2027, covering 21 CFR Part 111 and Part 117.

The one line to keep. Nutrafol Men asks $74.67 to $88 a month and keeps 2,295 mg of its formula inside two blend totals. BLOOHAIR MEN asks $54.99 on repeat delivery and publishes all 22 of its doses, its certificate of analysis, its allergen report and its facility certificate — as text, on the page, for anyone who wants to check before they pay.
